Chandigarh, February 19

The Municipal Corporation (MC) is going to frame fresh guidelines for membership of community centres in the city.

Sources said the agenda of the new guidelines would be placed for approval in the next meeting of the General House, which was scheduled for February 26.

The move to frame new guidelines came after residents had alleged favouritism in making members of the community centres opened in Sector 38 and Sector 37 recently.

Sources said the new guidelines had been prepared to make the entire procedure transparent. There would be a provision for applying for the membership online.

The community centres opened recently have more facilities. The MC is making gym and other facilities available at almost all community centres in the city.

The guidelines will also specify the election procedure for the executive committee and the managing committee of the community centres.
