Monthly charges for girls’ Hostel No. 10 approved

CHANDIGARH: Syndicate, which is the governing body of Panjab University, today approved the fees for the upcoming girls’ hostel number 10 where research scholars will get a room with attached washroom.

Syndicate, which is the governing body of Panjab University, today approved the fees for the upcoming girls’ hostel number 10 where research scholars will get a room with attached washroom.

The allotment will take place for 2018-19 sessions. There are two types of rooms in hostel number 10-with common and attached washrooms.

As per a committee to decide the hostel fees, for rooms with common washroom, the charges will be room rent Rs200 per month while for those with attached washrooms it will be Rs500 per month. No rent will be charged from Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe students.

The power charges will be Rs500 per month and development fund will be Rs1,000 per month for rooms with common washroom.

For rooms with attached washrooms the power charges will be Rs700 per month and development fund will be Rs2,000 per month.

The water bill, celebration fund, lift charges will be Rs100 each per month and establsihment charges will be charged at Rs1,000 per month for both kind of rooms.

But routine hostel maintenance charges will be Rs500 per month for rooms with common washrooms and Rs1,000 per month for rooms with attached washrooms.

The mess fund charges, optional charges and other fees and fine will remain the same as applicable to other hostels.

The students of J&K who get admission under PM’s Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir will be given accomodation in the hostels on a sharing basis. They will be charged the same overall rent as being charged from the research scholars who are paying their house rent to the hostels at Rs5,000 per month.

The Syndicate has also approved the marginal hike in rent of rest of hostels. The total cost with lift charges will be now Rs6,330 per semester while earlier it was Rs 5,980 per semester. The charges without lift charges will now be Rs6,030 per semester, while earlier, it was Rs5,680 per semester.
