Patiala, August 11

Taking into consideration the unwarranted delay in providing job on compassionate grounds, the Education Department has asked its superintendents to personally visit the aggrieved family and complete the paperwork.

Terming the delay inexcusable, the department has directed the District Education Officers (DEOs) to remove bottlenecks in the entire process.

The department informed that in many cases, family members could not apply due to lack of knowledge and miss the deadline.

Now, the DEOs need to ensure that a superintendent visits house of a deceased employee to inform his family about the entire process of getting the job. In fact, superintendent would himself prepare a case and submit it with the Education Department.

The department concerned  has warned of strict action against delinquent officers.

Deputy Director (Administration) said, “Sometimes, documents are incomplete, which leads to further delay. Therefore, we have requested superintendents to personally take up the matter.”

Davinder Punia, general secretary, Democratic Teachers Front (DTF), said, “We welcome the decision taken by the Education Department. The responsibility should be fixed.”
