Notice to grocery store for charging higher GST

CHANDIGARH: The National Anti-Profiteering Authority has issued a notice to one of the leading grocery stores of the city, Bhatia Confectioners, Sector 19, for not providing the benefit of the reduction in the GST to consumer.

The National Anti-Profiteering Authority has issued a notice to one of the leading grocery stores of the city, Bhatia Confectioners, Sector 19, for not providing the benefit of the reduction in the GST to consumer. In a notice issued on September 12, AK Goel, Secretary of the authority, asked the owner of Bhatia Confectioners to appear before the authority on September 26 at 12 pm.

In the notice, the authority has mentioned the report of the Director General, Anti-Profiteering, pointing that the profiteering amount of Rs 181 had been established against the store under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017

The owner of the store has been told to explain as to why the above report should not be accepted and the liability for profiteering be determined.
