Chandigarh, February 17

Over 200 persons, mostly from the economically weaker sections of society living in difficult areas that are deprived of even primary health services, were treated at a free medical camp. It was organised by WWICS in association with Max Hospital at Kane Ka Bada near Masol, one of the most difficult villages in Chandigarh periphery on Saturday.

Internal medicine specialists, orthopaedics, ophthalmologists and gynaecologists along with paramedical staff from Max Hospital examined the patients and free medicines were given to the needy, said Lt Col BS Sandhu (retd), chairman and managing director, WWICS Group.

Sandhu, along with retired Punjab Chief Secretary AS Chatha, motivated the villagers and asked them to get their regular health check-up done.

“We are committed towards public welfare and we undertake a number of CSR activities in larger interest of the community, especially in the area of health, education, women empowerment and childcare,” said the WWICS CMD while announcing to organise regular free medical camps in the area to help the needy.

At the camp, more than 100 patients were diagnosed for further treatment related to cataract, gynaecology, orthopaedic and urology, for which free consultation will be provided to them at Max Hospital.

The medical camp also saw doctors educating the villagers about the importance of personal hygiene to ward of diseases. “As several skin problems prevail in the area, the villagers were advised to boil water before consumption,” said Sandhu.
