CHANDIGARH:With a spell of rain and hail lashing the tricity today, the Met Department said the minimum temperature was expected to to 6 to 7°C.

With a spell of rain and hail lashing the tricity today, the Met Department said the minimum temperature was expected to drop to 6 to 7°C.

According to the department, the city recorded 13 mm of rain, while in the airport area, 35 mm of rain was recorded. The figures were available from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm today.

“The weather will be colder ahead. We expect the minimum temperature to drop to 6 to 7°C. The minimum temperature recorded today was 14°C,” said an official of the department.

The department has predicted clear weather from tomorrow. From Saturday, it is expected to be foggy. “There may be drizzling or thundery development till Friday afternoon. After that, the weather is expected to  clear. It will remain clear for the next few days,” said Surender Pal, Director, Chandigarh Met Department.

The weatherman had earlier forecast rain from February 6 to 8. Though there was light scattered rain in some parts of the city on February 6, today it covered the entire city with good intensity. Cold winds were also witnessed, leading to uprooting of several trees.
