Strong winds, rain lash tricity

CHANDIGARH: Strong wind coupled with rain lashed the tricity on Friday.

Chandigarh, April 20

Strong wind coupled with rain lashed the tricity on Friday. The observatory of the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre in Sector 39 witnessed merely 0.3 mm rainfall but heavy rain was witnessed in Sector 29 and the Industrial Area. The observatory located at the airport recorded 10 mm rainfall till the evening.

The mercury was recorded at 35.2 degree Celsius, one degree above the normal, while the night temperature also rose by four degrees, settling at 22.4 degree Celsius.

According to the Met Department, there were chances of rain on April 24 and 25 due to western disturbances. Weather experts are now maintaining that there is slight chance of rain on April 24 and 25. The city has received 39 mm rainfall so far. It is inching closer to break the 10-year record. “We are more concerned about the variability of weather. One part of the city receives rain while other remains dry,” said a meteorological expert.
