Chandigarh, February 19
The Panjab University Syndicate, which is the governing body of the university, will take a final call on re-evaluation for MBBS students of the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh.
Prof Jagat Bhushan, principal of the Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, PU, Dr Amod Gupta, Dr AK Janmeja, Director, GMCH, Dr Ravi Gupta, Medical Superintendent, GMCH, Senator Navdeep Goyal and Controller of Examination Parvinder Singh took a decision for allowing re-evaluation in the faculty of medical sciences.
“It will benefit MBBS students of the GMCH and homeopathy students,” said Prof Parvinder. Earlier, re-evaluation was allowed only for students of Dr Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital under the Dental Council of India norms. In the MBBS theory exams, earlier, the two parts of theory papers used to be evaluated by the internal examiner and external examiner as approved by the Board of Studies. But Ravi Gupta said they could think of following the pattern of the NBE for setting up of question papers as well as evaluators. After that it has been decided that the theory papers be got set from external paper setters as decided by the Board of Studies and internal examiners will be the moderators. The theory papers will be evaluated by the external examiners only and the names of the examiners must be got approved from the Board of Studies.
The evaluators will be different from examiners who have set the question papers. It has also been decided that the examiners for theory and practical exams should be different. The rules were amended after the PU Chief Vigilance Officer probed a case on the complaint of Dr Dasari Harish and Dr Amandeep Singh of the GMCH. — TNS
