Chandigarh, July 14
The three-day bonanza of classical music, organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, concluded at the Tagore Theatre on Saturday. Welcoming chief guest JM Balamurugan, IAS, NZCC director Dr Saubhagya Vardhan disclosed that they had teamed up with Sangeet Milon to hold a classical music competition, “Classical Voice of India-2018”.
Shruti Patil (Mumbai) opened the programme with a rendition of Raga Puriya Dhanshree, doling out “Bal gyi jayotri” in vilambat ek tal and “Payaliya jhankaar mori” in drut teen tal. Kolkatta-based Sorjavo Chakravarti and Rudraswa Rakshit presented an entrancing jugalbandi before the brother duo of Noushad Harlapur and Kumar Nishaad Harlapur (Shimoga) delineated Raga Maru Bihag with slow paced “Mai rasiya hoon jayee” and “Mann mera ho”. Bineet Singh (Delhi) excelled in recital of two compositions in Raga Jog. — TNS
