Titles for Onkar, Mahika on Day 1

Chandigarh, May 22

Onkar Singh topped the U-6 category, while Deeyon Sain Pap clinched the U-7 title on the opening day of a golf tournament organised by Milkha Charitable Trust at the Chandigarh Golf Club here today. 

Arman Gawde finished at the top in the boys’ U-8 category. The boys’ U-9 title went to Angad Singh.

In the girls’ division, Mahika Garg sealed the U-7 title. The U-8 category was led by Prarthana Khanna, while Vabhi Chadha claimed the U-9 trophy. Sinjini Mukharjee won the U-10 title. 

Over 90 budding golfers participated in the event, which was tee-off by veteran Milkha Singh. 

“The objective behind conducting a tournament like this is to create more players like Jeev, whose dedication and hard work brought laurels to the country. The trust will also conduct athletics meet in the near future,” said the legendary sprinter. 

The event also marks the finale of the Ultimate Junior Golf Tour, which has conducted over eight tournaments across India with the help of professionals, including Digvijay Singh, Jyoti Randhawa and SSP Chawrasia. 

An initiative by golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, the tournament aims to promote the sport and inspire budding golfers to showcase their talent on a competitive platform.

“It is a great experience as I got the opportunity to meet some big players,” said Arihant Mittal, who came from Jaipur to take part in the event 

“The course here is well maintained. The greens are far better than the Rambagh Golf Course,” he said.
