Unidentified persons booked on charges of theft, illegal mining

AMBALA: The Ambala police have registered a case against unidentified persons for stealing a structure made of stones and net from the Begna river.

The Ambala police have registered a case against unidentified persons for stealing a structure made of stones and net from the Begna river.

In his complaint to the police, Dalbir Singh, Assistant Land Protection Officer, Naraingarh, has stated that to secure the farmers’ fields from the flow of the river, a structure made of stones and net was installed in the river at Kohra Bhura village. The length, width and height of the first step was 10 meter, 2.50 meter and 1.50 meter, respectively, while the length, width and height of the second step was 9 meter, 1.50 meter and 1 meter, respectively. The structure was installed in year 2014-15 at a cost of nearly Rs 99,792.

Following a complaint from the sarpanch of Khora Bhura village, an inspection was made and it was found that during illegal mining, the structure has been stolen.

The matter was raised before the Naraingarh SDM during an event on January 31 following which the SDM directed the department concerned to get a case registered in this regard.

Today, a case was registered under Section 379 of the IPC and Section 21 (1) of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation and Development) Act against unidentified persons. — TNS
