UT stops illegal construction

CHANDIGARH:Officials of the Land Acquisition Office (LAO), UT, today visited the Shastri Nagar area of Kishangarh village and stopped illegal construction being done there.

Chandigarh, February 22

Officials of the Land Acquisition Office (LAO), UT, today visited the Shastri Nagar area of Kishangarh village and stopped illegal construction being done there.

The action by the LAO comes after Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the issue.

Land Acquisition Officer Arjun Sharma said teams had been deputed to check illegal constructions and action would be taken as per law against the violators.

Construction on small plots measuring 2 to 3 kanals had been going on in full swing in the area for the past several days. While the UT Administration has banned the sale of agriculture land in the form of small plots to stop construction of houses, land was being traded through GPA. — TNS
