Waste segregation mandatory from October 12

CHANDIGARH: The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, has made the segregation of solid waste mandatory from October 12.

The Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, has made the segregation of solid waste mandatory from October 12. The civic body issued a notice regarding the segregation of waste at source here today.

Municipal Corporation employees will not collect non-segregated waste from Saturday.

Residents failing to comply with the direction face a penalty ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 2,000 as per the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The MC has also directed collectors not to take waste from households which do not segregate it.
