Woman caught giving drugs to son at Central Jail

In a shocking incident, a mother was caught smuggling drugs to her inmate son at Central Jail Patiala on Friday. Angrej Kaur, 58, was caught red-handed, while handing over drugs to her son Kuldeep Singh, during a meeting with her son on Friday evening. 

The jail officials disclosed that the confiscated drug was reportedly smack. Angrez Kaur, a resident of Nial village, brought the drugs in a rolled-up empty Verka milk packet, informed 

jail officials. 

Soon after handing over the drugs to her son, she ran from the spot which made a jail official doubtful. Consequently, Angrez Kaur was stopped near the main gate of the jail by the officials. 

When her son, Kuldeep, was searched, about 20-gram of smack was seized by the Assistant Jail Superintendent. Angrez Kaur has been arrested under the NDPS act for smuggling drugs. Kuldeep Singh was arrested in 2007 under Sections 458, 364 (A), 468, 120 B of the Indian Penal Code and is serving life time imprisonment. 

Kuldeep Singh has also been booked under 376 IPC (committing rape) while he was on parole, on July 17, 2016. Jail officials informed that Kuldeep Singh alias Kala has not shown any symptoms of drug addicts, therefore it might be for supplying the drugs to other jail inmates. However, Angrez Kaur, said she was not aware of the drugs. 

Central Jail Superintendent Rajan Kapoor said, “In my almost a year long tenure, as Jail Superintendent, it is for the first time that a mother has been caught smuggling the drugs.”

How it happened

• Angrez Kaur, a resident of Nial village, brought drugs in a rolled-up empty Verka milk packet.
