Childhood friends turned snatchers nabbed

NEW DELHI:Delhi Police has arrested duo ‘Jai-Veeru’ snatchers.

Delhi Police has arrested duo ‘Jai-Veeru’ snatchers. The snatchers were identified as Ajay alias Jay and Balraj alias Veeru and both are childhood friends and arrested. The duo had scared the area with back to back snatching and with the arrest, police has solved nine cases of snatching and auto-theft, police said.

Complainant Shashi Singh reported that she was going to the market in Najafgarh in the evening of August 17, when two boys on a high speed motorcycle snatched her gold chain and disappeared, they said.

Efforts by police were intensified in view of multiple snatching calls on August 17, which were taken as challenge to the ongoing police efforts, police said.

One CCTV camera covered had the glimpse of the criminals on a Yamaha motorcycle for August 18 with the two snatchers roaming at the old Kakrola Road and the same motorcycle was used in several snatchings on August 17, said DCP Anto Alphonse (Dwarka).

Acting on the information, a trap was laid and two suspected boys on a motorcycle were stopped for checking near the Jal Board installation at about 8 pm. They tried to flee but were controlled by the police and were interrogated, the DCP said.
