New Delhi, May 19

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was responsible for water crisis in the city.

Vijender said that as usual the CM believed in allegations and counter allegations on water problem while reality was that his government had done nothing to solve the problem. Kejriwal blamed Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the Union government and the Prime Minister for any problem he failed to resolve.

The Union government formed a board for distribution and regulation of Yamuna water between Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. Water resource is a complex and serious issue for Delhi. Efforts should have been made to resolve water problem through mutual understanding with the concerned states instead of confronting them. Delhi government should have negotiated with the concerned states before approaching the Supreme Court in the matter.

Vijender said that if Kejriwal had faith in the solution of Delhi's problems in the true sense, he should have respected the constitutional authorities and institutions and worked in harmony with these institutions. But, he is more interested to play politics of allegations and counter allegations with these institutions which would have been good for the people of Delhi.
