New Delhi, July 16

Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) today slammed the varsity administration over making joining of the students’ union voluntary for students and accused it of trying to finish student politics and activism on the campus.

This year, the university has done away with the earlier practice of including the JNUSU membership amount in the student fee and will now allow students to decide whether or not to join the students’ body.

“The JNU administration has suddenly brought a new form where students can give declaration whether they want to pay the Rs 15 for the union,” the union said.
