With the arrest of an accused, the Special Cell said it has busted an interstate drug syndicate.
The accused, who has been identified as Nand Kishor Joshi (31), a resident of Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, was a key player of the drug syndicate. He was arrested here on June 19.
The Special Cell had been working on information about a drug syndicate active in UP, MP, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and other states for the last three to four months
Around 5 kg of heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market has been seized from his possession.
The Special Cell received information that the accused had arrived in Delhi with a big consignment of heroin which was to be delivered to one of his contacts near Hanuman Mandir between 10 pm and 11 pm.
A trap was laid near Hanuman Mandir, where Joshi arrived with a black coloured backpack. The police arrested him after he was identified by the informer.
