Police early response vehicle (ERV) of Southeast district in Govindpuri has arrested two criminals: Shashikant Munda (20) and Newton Biswas (20) — both residents of Govindpuri and recovered a snatched mobile from their possession, said police.
On Jan 27 at about 8:30 pm, complainant who works at a private company at Okhla Phase-II was returning his home from work. When he reached near public toilet at Okhla Estate Marg, two persons came from behind and snatched his mobile phone and ran away. The complainant raised alarm. The nearby patrolling ERV staff comprising of assistant sub inspector Ramesh and head constable Harun Khan alongwith the complainant chased the accused. After a brief chase of 500m, both the snatchers were caught and the snatched phone was recovered from their possession, police said.
The duo disclosed that they are childhood friends, school drop-outs, used to work on part-time basis as unskilled labours and used to commit petty thefts. Munda was previously arrested in a house theft case at Govindpuri in 2017, they said.
