Himachali film ‘Sanjh’ shot in the local dialect and locations was released in theatres here today. It is a heart-touching drama regarding the trauma of migration, separation and solitude. “Sanjh” is a story of migration of educated folks from the hills to the cities and depicts the plight of an old an ailing mother.

Producer and director Ajay Saklani produced this film with a cost of Rs 1.35 crore. Budding actress from Chamba Aditi Chadak is in the lead role. Other artistes of the film include Vishal Parpagga, Rupeshwari Sharma, Asif Basra and Karanjeet Kaur. The lyrics are penned by Adarsh Dhiman, Ajay Saklani and Shreya Shah.

Notably, the film has received worldwide accolades before its release in India as it bagged award for the best feature film at the Borrego Springs Film Festival in California early this year where 750 films from across the world were screened.

Talking to mediapersons after the national premier of the movie, Saklani said it was a tough task to shoot the film in the tough hilly terrain. “Diverse and rigid cultural barriers in villages and unsupportive attitude of government bodies added to our woes during the production of the film,” he said.

Talking about the movie, he says it not only connects hearts but also takes audience to the scenic view of the beautiful hill state. “The amazing locations add to the feel of the movie,” he said.
