The Himachal Pradesh Employees’ Confederation has opposed the state government’s notification to give 2 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) on pre-revised pay scales to the employees.

Vinod Kumar, state president of the confederation, in a statement here today, said the government had caused financial loss to the employees by granting 2 per cent DA and also violated DA norms of the Central Government.

He said the state government had set up a new pattern of DA after deviating from the Central Government pattern, which had never happened in the history of Himachal Pradesh.

“The norms of granting DA in any state are based on the national price index which can’t be tempered with. But the state government has issued the notification by ignoring these norms. The employees of the state will not accept this violation,” he said.

The present notification will cause loss to the state employees after implementation of recommendations of the sixth pay commission of Punjab, he said.

Vinod Kumar also appealed to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to re-consider and revoke the notification and grant justified DA to the employees. He demanded at least seven per cent DA on the pre-revised pay scales to the state employees.
