Ruchira Ghosh, Regional Director, South Asia, Cambridge International Examinations, said professional development was an integral part of Cambridge’s offering to teachers across the globe. She was expressing her views in a two-day enrichment professional development workshop for new school leaders organised by Cambridge International Examinations at The Doon School here today.
She said, “As the acceptance for international curriculum in India rises, so does our responsibility to aid and support the Indian teachers to apply new ideas to engage critically with relevant concepts, principles, theories and international best practices”.
Ghosh said Cambridge organised such workshops to ensure that every child accessed high-quality education through excellent leadership and teaching.
The workshop covered many key responsibilities of a school leader, including effective teaching and learning at a whole-school level, monitoring and quality assurance, curriculum planning and effective professional development for teachers.
The workshop was conducted by two trainers, Lin Whyte and Helen Morgan. Prabhakaran Nair, Assistant Headmaster, The Doon School, Dehradun, said the workshop provided an excellent opportunity for heads of schools and senior teachers to come together and share their views and collaborate on a professional platform.
Expressing his views, Lee Davis, Deputy Director of Education, Cambridge International Examinations, said the workshops marked the start of a range of professional development services Cambridge would be offering in the area, which ultimately placed teaching and learning at the heart of any improvement efforts the schools undertake.
