Dehradun, March 30

Geeta Chandran, a renowned bharatnatyam dancer, conducted lecture demonstrations in schools, colleges and research institutions of the city under the aegis of SPICMacay in the past few days. She performed at Shigally Hill International Academy, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, DIT University, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Uttarakhand Technical University and Selqui International School on March 29 and 30.

Chandran, who is preserving the pristine art form, interacted with the young minds. She presented ancient and traditional repertoires to the audiences, ranging from school students to Indian Forest Service probationers. Every piece of her demonstration of the art was presented beautifully and inspiringly to the students, be it the Shiva, the Krishna, the Devi or even a pure dance repertoire. Her mastery over the art and excellent oratory skills left the audiences awe struck.

She explained to the students the relevance of our culture and how one can look at classical dances as a viable career. The accompanying musicians, Guru S Shankar on nattuvangam, K Venkateshwaran on vocal support, R Kesavan on mridangam and Rajat Prasanna on flute, were equally great in their part, making the performances even more enjoyable.
