Ahead of allotment of tickets, the prospective candidates of the Congress and the BJP have started mass contact programmes in their Assembly constituencies. They are blaming each other for backwardness of the regions.

Harish Dhami, Congress leader from the Dharchula Assembly constituency, today concluded his ‘meet the voters’ rally at Nachni town. The rally was attended by thousands of Congressmen and residents from the region. “On Tuesday, the rally was started from Dharchula town and concluded at Nachni town of Munsiyari sub division today. Party workers in the rally attended several meetings at different places and blamed the Narendra Modi government at the Centre for stopping development of the state by withholding several grants, the state had received earlier,” said Harish Dhami.

Prakash Pant, a BJP ticket aspirant, today contacted voters in Jakhpuran, Rawalgaon and Aincholi areas of Pithoragarh Assembly constituency and told people that the development works planned by the BJP for the area were ignored by the ruling Congress government. He said the local MLA from Pithoragarh was boosting his achievement by citing developmental works started during the BJP rule in the state.

Lalit Pharswan, Congress MLA from Kapkot in Bageswar district, today visited villages in Shama and Bharari regions of the Assembly area and explained to the villagers that it was the leadership of Chief Minister Harish Rawat that paved the way for record development like education, health and transportation in the Assembly constituency. “Due to poor performance of former BJP MLA from this Assembly segment, the region could not get attention towards development of its villages, which have been taken at priority by the present government,” alleges Lalit Pharswan.

Chandan Ram Das, BJP MLA from Bageswar, today toured Malta, Mohan Nagar, Dhungapatli and Pagna villages of Bageswar Assembly constituency and explained the people that due to ill intentions of the Congress government in the state, BJP MLAs were neglected from allocation of developmental schemes, resulted in failure to fulfil the promises given by him at the time of last election. “The deferring of sewer line in Bageswar town is one of the examples of neglect of Assembly by the Rawat government,” said Das.
