A whirlwind batting performance (93 runs) by skipper Jaskaran Singh Sohi and an equally valuable innings of 55 runs by Sarul Kanwar helped Chandigarh in scripting victory by six wickets against Ludhiana in the ongoing Inter-District T-20 Cricket Tournament for Punjab Championship at PCA Stadium, Mohali, today.

Put into bat, Ludhiana scored a decent total of 202 runs losing just one wicket. Ludhiana captain, Geetansh Khera played another fine innings of 78 runs (not out), which came off 45 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and six sixes. He had scored 57 runs against Amritsar yesterday to enable his side to win the match.

Other notable contributors were Talwinder Singh, who remained unconquered at 89 runs that came in 57 balls and included 10 hits over the ropes and three sixes, and Sukhjinder Singh, who scored 23 runs off 18 balls.

The highlight of Ludhiana’s innings was an unbeaten 136-run partnership for the second wicket between Geetansh and Sukhjinder Singh.

For Chandigarh, Gaurav Gambhir was the lone wicket taker, who secured one for 26 runs in three overs.

Ludhiana failed to defend the total as Jaskaran Singh Sohi and Sarul Kanwar were on a rampage. Jaskaran smashed 93 runs off 53 balls, including six boundaries and four sixes, while Sarul contributed 55 runs facing 34 balls, laced with 4 fours and an equal number of sixes.

Gourav Puri and Gaurav Gambhir scored 20 and 17 runs, respectively, as Chandigarh wrapped up the issue with six wickets in hand.

For the losers, Baltej Singh, Simranjeet Singh and Krishan Kumar scalped one victim each.
