Mandi, December 24

Members of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) protested outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner today.
They said the administration had failed to restore water and power supply in snow-hit hilly areas of Balichowki, Seraj, Nihari, Karsog and Chauhar valley for the past 12 days. The protesters said the roads had also not been cleared of snow.
CPM district secretary Bhupender Singh said it was for the first time that the administration had failed to restore essential services in the snow-hit areas of the district.
Addressing the protesters, Mahendra Rana, secretary, Balichowki committee, said life was paralysed in Gondagusaini, Thaata, Bungjahalgaud, Thachi, Punjai and other panchayats in the Balichowki area and MLAs and ministers of the areas were not showing any interest in solving the problems of the people. Situation in the Nihar-Karsog was no different, said secretary Gurudas Verma.
