Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said Churdhar had immense tourism potential besides great religious significance. He urged residents to provide land voluntarily and extend support for constructing a road to the Churdhar temple. He was addressing a public meeting at Nohradhar. Virbhadra is on a two-days visit to Sirmaur district.

He said every effort was being made to provide quality education to students, adding that Sirmaur district had 10 colleges.

The Chief Minister announced a science lab for Government Senior Secondary School, Nohradhar, besides undertaking repair of the school building and the boys hostel. He said modern equipment would be made available to the lab of Government Senior Secondary School, Nohradhar.

He laid the foundation stone of 30-bed CHC building to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.92 crore, office building of the Executive Engineer of Irrigation and Public Health to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.85 crore. Virbhadra also inaugurated a Trekkers Hut constructed at a cost of Rs 1.29 crore at Nohradhar.

He said Himachal was a hilly state and due to rough terrain and tough geographical conditions here, helicopter services were used for various purposes, including emergencies like airlifting patients. He said the government would consider expansion of helipads for facilitating bigger aircraft.

The Chief Minister said the government was committed to strengthening the health sector, for which the number of ambulances had been increased from 166 to 182 under the National Ambulance Service 108. He said Nahan medical college was providing specialised health services in the region.

“Work on augmentation of water in Nahan, Banjar, Hamirpur and Sarkaghat is under progress,” he said.

After inaugurating the Multi-Villages Water Supply Scheme constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore at Boghdhar, the Chief Minister said the scheme would benefit 16,867 people.
