DGP takes stock of security situation

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar has called for close coordination among all security agencies to maintain vigil on the activities of anti-national elements to foil their nefarious designs and sought people’s cooperation to maintain peace.

Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar has called for close coordination among all security agencies to maintain vigil on the activities of anti-national elements to foil their nefarious designs and sought people’s cooperation to maintain peace.

The DGP was on a daylong tour to south Kashmir districts on Sunday to take stock of the security and law and order situation. He was accompanied by Special DG Coordination/Law and Order SP Vaid, IGP Kashmir zone SJM Gillani and other police officers of the south Kshmir range.

During the visit, Rajendra inspected police stations and other police establishments in the district which were damaged during the unrest. He gave instructions to start repair of all damaged infrastructure.

Addressing police officers and jawans at Damhal Hanjipora, the DGP said the safety and security of the people had always remained the prime concern of the police and any move of the anti-national elements to disrupt peace would be dealt with firmly. Chairing officers’ meeting at Anantnag, Rajendra said during the recent months, the J&K Police had faced tough situations but “our men and officers exercised maximum restraint and dealt with the situation with fortitude”.
