Dehradun, June 17

Employees of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) held a protest in support of their various demands here today. The protesters were demanding payment of the salary arrears and promotion to class IV employees according to their seniority and qualification. They also demanded regularisation of the services of contractual employees appointed against vacant posts and release of two months’ salary of the Tax Department employees.

Earlier, the employees gathered at the DMC office and raised slogans against the Mayor and the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari (MNA). They alleged that senior DMC officials were not concerned about their problems. DMC Employees Union president Naam Bahadur said the department had failed to address the genuine demands of the employees. He threatened that if their demands were not fulfilled soon, they would intensify their protest.
