Dry days in five districts

CHANDIGARH/SANGRUR: The Election Commission (EC) has ordered dry days in five districts — Amritsar, Mansa, Moga, Sangrur and Muktsar — from Tuesday (5 pm) to Thursday (5 pm) in view of the February 9 repoll.

The Election Commission (EC) has ordered dry days in five districts — Amritsar, Mansa, Moga, Sangrur and Muktsar — from Tuesday (5 pm) to Thursday (5 pm) in view of the February 9 repoll.

The EC has also ordered paid leave for government employees in these districts to help them exercise their franchise, said VK Singh, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab.

Meanwhile, Sangrur District Electoral Officer (DEO) Abhinav Trikha today started preparations for repoll at nine polling stations in the Sangrur constituency.

VK Singh inspected the polling booths and directed the administration to put strict security arrangements in place.
