In order to improve the situation of children of labourers working at brick-kilns across the district, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)-cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, held a meeting with administrative officials.

CJM Ashish Kumar Bansal issued directions to officials concerned to enrol these children under Aadhaar to make them eligible for various welfare schemes of the government.

Officials of various departments, including Labour, Social Security and Women and Child Development and Panchayat, attended the meeting.

Bansal directed the officials concerned that schemes being run by the state government and the Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board should reach the labourers working at brick-kilns. For this purpose, a committee of the representative of various departments has been constituted which would ensure the Aadhaar registration of the children of the workers at brick-kilns.

Directions have also been issued to the district programme officer to ensure proper supplementary nutrition to improve the nutritional and health status of children in the age-group of 0-6 years at the brick-kilns. OC
