Lambi, March 15

To boost the morale of SAD workers, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today reiterated the claim of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal that the SAD-BJP alliance would rule for 25 years after the five-year stint of the Congress.

“The people wanted change, just like we want change from chapattis with the same vegetable. But don’t worry, we will rule for 25 years after the Congress regime. They will not even come to meet you and we will come back to power,” Badal said while addressing people on the first day of his thanksgiving tour in the Lambi Assembly constituency.

He reminded the people that the Congress and AAP had claimed to wipe out drugs from the state. But he was quick to point out the “hollowness” of their promise. “Can a person who himself drinks, ban liquor? AAP leader Bhagwant Mann drinks two bottles of liquor every day. I am not saying this, but his party men claim that he was sent out from a gurdwara for this reason. Capt Amarinder Singh, too, drinks. As for me, my life is an open book. I am always available for you,” he said.

“We are still more powerful than them (Congress men). I have ruled for 15 out of past 20 years, and have cordial relations with all officers. Moreover, we have our government at the Centre.”

The SAD patriarch termed his victory from Lambi as “record-breaking”. “Both the Congress and the AAP tried their best, but you voted for me. I have no words to thank you.”
