Bhiwani, April 26

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ashok Tanwar has asked the state government to expedite the process of lifting of wheat scattered in state mandis before another spell of rain predicted in the coming days.

Tanwar paid a surprise visit to the Bhiwani grain market today to take stock of the rabi crop procurement and lifting process.

Talking to The Tribune, Tanwar said: “Wheat is placed in careless way and state procurement agencies are nowhere to be seen in action. If lifting of wheat from state mandis is not expedited, then the payment to farmers may be delayed, adding to their worries".

Expressing concern over suicide by farmers, the HPCC chief said the state government should know the harsh reality that farmers were taking the extreme step as they were getting no respite from the ruling party.

"The acche din sarkar has come as a disappointment for people and it is high time it should show some sensitivity and announce relief measures for hail-hit farmers like waiving their power bills, school fees of their children and implementation of the MS Swaminathan Commission report," he demanded.
