Fire NOC fee to be charged from city residents

CHANDIGARH:The MC General House today resolved to charge fire no-objection certificate (NOC) fee from city residents.

The MC General House today resolved to charge fire no-objection certificate (NOC) fee from city residents. This will be the first time the MC will charge for a fire NOC.

The MC House resolved that it will charge a minimum of Rs 5,000, and onward calculation @ Rs 10 per square meter from commercial establishments. The fee will be charged from multiplexes, cinema halls, malls, gas agencies, hotels, marriage palaces, educational institutions and hospitals among others. Private societies, commercial booths and shops will also be covered under the new rule.

Similarly for residential areas, the minimum fees will be Rs 2,500 and onward calculation @Rs 10 sq meter. This fee will be once in three years. 

The MC had placed the agenda in the last meeting on the pattern of the Mohali MC. It was stated that the Mohali MC was charging for fire NOCs which should be followed in Chandigarh to increase revenue generation.
