Chandigarh, December 21

For the second consecutive day, dense fog today resulted in the cancellation of all incoming and outgoing flights from the Chandigarh airport, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at the airport.

The maximum temperature in the city on the shortest day of the year today was 13.1°C, 4°C more than yesterday. The minimum temperature was 7.4°C.

Due to fog, there was poor visibility (it was less than 200 metres), affecting air and rail traffic. The bad weather affected the arrival of two trains. While the Unchahar Express was running late by 15 hours, the morning Shatabdi was running late by one and a half hours.

There was no relief for city residents from the cold wave and dense fog, which threw life out of gear. The city was colder than Shimla and Dharamsala, which recorded 14°C and 14.2°C, respectively.

There is no good news for residents from the Met Department, According to the forecast, there will be dense fog, due to which the visibility will be less than 200 metres tomorrow. The sky is expected to be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature will hover around the 13°C mark while the minimum temperature will be around 7°C.

Met Director Surinder Pal Singh said for the next three days, there will be dense fog and partly cloudy sky, which will dip the temperature further. He said the visibility would improve in the city by the weekend.
