Karnal, January 26

The state-level function to mark the 66th Republic Day was organised in Karnal, where Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki unfurled the tricolour and urged the youth to uproot the evils prevailing in society for social equality.

Paying tribute to freedom fighters and martyrs the Governor said that, “We became a republic after the massive efforts done by our freedom fighters and martyrs, who laid their lives for the independence of the country. Now India is the largest democracy in the world, but still we have to overcome several challenges like terrorism, regionalism, communalism, corruption, female foeticide, crime against women, commercialism and materialism. Only by developing good character we could assist in overcoming these hurdles and help in building a strong democracy.”

He appraised the initiative taken by the state-government like CM window, e-disha centres and other steps to check corruption.

Showing his concern over the declining of sex-ratio in the state the Governor appealed to the people to take ahead the initiative of the Central government named ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ for gender equality in society.
