The admission process for polytechnics and engineering colleges of Haryana has been stalled following uncertainty over the bifurcation of seats among different categories and quotas in the wake of Punjab and Haryana High Court’s decision on Jat reservation.

This has caused harassment to thousands of students and parents across the state. The SC had struck down the reservation quota of Jats in jobs and admissions to the professional courses recently.

The HC also rejected the case for such quota in Haryana affecting the ongoing admission process.

Sources said in the light of the HC decision, the state was supposed to issue necessary instructions to the departments/institutions and the Haryana State Technical Education Society on urgent basis.

In the absence of orders, the admissions and the start of the new academic session has been disrupted.

Admission to Diploma, B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA and MCA started on July, 13 after an entrance test.

The first counselling has been conducted successfully and the students have already taken admissions in various institutions.

The choices for second counselling have also been filled by the students through the online process. It began on July 24 and the result was supposed to be uploaded on the website by the society on July 28 so that students could seek admission to the institutions allotted to them by July 31. After the verdict, it has been stopped.

Affected students demanded that the government should take a decision to avoid wasting the time of the students. The new academic session will start on August 3.
