The Kangra district police have chalked out a new strategy to tighten the noose around drug peddlers.

As per information, the police have decided to expedite the investigation of the drug peddlers who had been arrested by the police in its special campaign against drug trafficking in the district. After the financial probe, movable and immovable properties raised by the peddlers will also be attached by freezing them.

Kangra SP Sanjiv Gandhi told The Tribune that requisite directions had been given to the police officials in the district police crime meeting held yesterday. “Meanwhile, a team of the women police cell has been deployed to conduct raids and nab woman indulged in drug trade,” he added.

Gandhi added the police had arrested 25 persons in a fortnight for violation of traffic rules in the district. He said the police would also intensify its drive against illegal mining activities and file cases in the judicial court against those found involved in such activities. Machinery like JCBs and tippers would also be confiscated by the police.  Gandhi said a special drive would  be launched to trace missing persons in the district.
