Malini Awasthi enthrals audience

Noted folk singer Malini Awasthi, a Padma Shree awardee, enthralled the audience at the Pantdeep cultural evening of Ardh Kumbh here on Sunday night.

Awasthi, who sings in various dialects of Hindi like Awadhi, Bhojpuri and Bundelkhandi and performs Thumri and Kajari, was given a huge applause by the audience at her arrival and at the stage. Recalling her previous performance at the Prayag Maha Kumbh in Allahabad in 2013, Malini said it was a bliss to perform during Maha Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh.

Malini said she was providing a platform to talented young folk singers through an organisation “Son Chiriya”. — TNS
