Rajouri, July 20

Noor Jahan, wife of Mohammad Nazir, resident of Targain village, under the jurisdiction of Budhal police station in Rajouri district, had died along with her three-month-old son under suspicious circumstances on July 15 due to burn injuries in the kitchen.

Mohammad Nazir was also present in the house and had claimed before the police on Tuesday that he tried his best to save them, but couldn’t and in the process he also received minor burn injuries on the hands.

“Investigation has established that it was a double murder as the police have found blood stains in the room. Whether Noor Jahan was killed earlier and set afire later or killed by setting ablaze is a matter of further investigation. Nazir during interrogation has almost admitted to the crime. Soon he will be formally arrested,” said AS Chib, SHO, Budhal.
