LUDHIANA: A man has been arrested with illegal weapon.

Ludhiana, January 16

A man has been arrested with illegal weapon. The accused has been identified as Abhishek Sharma, alias Bholu, of Fateh Singh Nagar. The police recovered .315 bore pistol and a cartridge from him. He was nabbed during a routine naka in Dugri. A case under Section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act has been registered.

Man arrested with Chinese strings

The police have arrested a man and seized five rolls of banned Chinese string from him. The accusd has been identified as Sanjay Singh of the Lakkar Bridge area. The police said a naka was laid to check the supply of the banned string on Lakkar Bridge and the accused was arrested when the banned string was found in his belongings during search. A case under Section 188 of the IPC has been registered.

One booked for travel fraud

The police have booked a man on the charge of travel fraud. The accused has been identified as Dapinder Deep Singh, now living in Canada. Complainant Manjit Kaur, resident of Detwal village, said the accused was her relative and he had promised to send her and her family to Canada and in lieu of Rs 70 lakh. Neither he could send them abroad nor did he return the money. A case under Section 420 of the IPC and the 24 Emigration Act has been registered.

One booked in dowry harassment case

The police have booked a man on the charge of dowry harassment. The accused was identified as Sidharth Arora of Delhi. Complainant Subash Gupta of Aggar Nagar told the police that his daughter was married to Sidharth in 2013 and soon after the wedding, she was subjected to mental and physical harassment. A case under Section 406, and 498A of the IPC was registered.

Two booked under Mining Act

The Jamalpur police have booked two persons on the charge of illegal mining of sand. The accused have been identified as Amrik Singh of Sasrali colony and Tarandeep Singh of Ramesh Nagar. A naka was laid when the two tractor-trailers, loaded with sand, were stopped for checking. Amrik was nabbed from the spot while accused Tarandeep to escaped. A case under Section 379 of the IPC and 21 Mining and Minerals Act has been registered.
