A man has been arrested for killing his daughter and her lover in an “honour killing” case at Ladhu village, 35 km from here, today. After committing the crime, Dogar Singh (50) surrendered before the police.

The police said Sukhwinder Kaur (16), daughter of the accused, and Randeep Singh Rana (20) were having an affair for the past one year and Dogar disapproved of it. Randeep was running a barber shop in front of the girl’s house.

Bhikhiwind SHO Avtar Singh said Dogar called Randeep to his house on some pretext and locked him in a room and attacked him with a sword. The accused hit Randeep several times on his head, thus killing him on the spot. Later, he killed her daughter too.

The police recovered both the bodies lying in a pool of blood. The bodies have been sent to the Civil Hospital, Patti, for the postmortem.

The SHO said Dogar had been arrested and a case had been registered against him on the statement of Devinder Singh Bittu, brother of the deceased.
