30 people participate in Red Cross counsellors’ training programme

The two-day training programme for junior and youth Red Cross counselors organised by the Indian Red Cross Society concluded today.

The two-day training programme for junior and youth Red Cross counselors organised by the Indian Red Cross Society concluded today.

About 30 people from Ganderbal and Udhampur districts participated in the training programme.

The programme was inaugurated by Roma Wani, general secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu and Kashmir. Honourary secretary RC Puri was also present.

Puri, while addressing the participants, stressed the need to strengthen the Red Cross units at the district level.

The training programme was organised with an aim to rejuvenate units in the state.

During the two-day programme, the participants were trained in various aspects to strengthen the junior and youth Red Cross in the state.

The programme emphasised on establishing Red Cross units in schools and colleges, importance of developing IEC material, developing yearly plan of action, group management, maintenance of database of junior and youth Red Cross members, water sanitation and hygiene and handling small emergencies in educational institutions.

Various experience sharing sessions were organised to boost the morale of the participants.
