Chandigarh, July 15
Councillors and MC officials will now leave on another study tour of Mysuru, Hyderabad and Bengaluru between July 31 and August 8.
Interestingly, councillors have already been to these cities on study tours in 2004, 2011 and 2013.
In the past 12 years, the MC has spent Rs 1.30 crore on these tours, but the civic body does not have any record of the projects being implemented in the city on the basis of these tours.
Councillors have visited Bengaluru thrice, Hyderabad twice and Mysuru once. The MC today started the process for seeking councillors’ consent for the tour. The UT has already approved the study tour proposal.
No family member this time
MC Commissioner B Purushartha, at a meeting held on Friday, made it clear that no family member will accompany councillors and MC officials on the study tour. After the controversial tour of 2014, the MC had deducted Rs 9,000 each from the honorarium of councillors who took their kin along to Chennai, Kolkata and Port Blair.
