Officials told to finish Ardh Kumbh works by Dec end

HARIDWAR: Garhwal Division Commissioner CS Napalchayal today directed government departments and nodal agencies to complete Kumbh Mela-related infrastructure works and projects by December end.

Garhwal Division Commissioner CS Napalchayal today directed government departments and nodal agencies to complete Kumbh Mela-related infrastructure works and projects by December end. Chief Minister Harish Rawat had yesterday given January 14 as the deadline to officials for the completion of all Ardh Kumbh related works.

Napalchayal chaired a meeting related to Ardh Kumbh works at the Mela City control room here. He emphasised on quality of works and better coordination among the departments, which had been assigned Ardh Kumbh works, so that the projects were completed in time frame.

He directed Irrigation Department officials to ensure that bridges built for Kumbh Mela and Ardh Kumbh at Har-ki-Pauri were of permanent nature so that they could be used during festival baths such as the Kanwar mela. He directed the officials concerned to speed up renovation and extension of works while Public Works Department officials were told to speed up construction of bridges and roads.

Napalchayal directed Peyjal Nigam officials to ensure construction of parking lots and water supply before December end so that pilgrims did not have to face inconvenience. Police officials were directed to speed up watch tower construction and finalise traffic plans for Ardh Kumbh.

Power Corporation officials were directed to install new transformers and lighting by December 25. He told Municipal Corporation officials to install high mast light, and complete sanitation works while he directed Health Department officials to ensure availability of doctors, paramedical staff, medicines, ambulances and spraying of insecticides.

Ardh Kumbh mela officer SA Murugesan said optimum utilization of the budget sanctioned by the Uttarakhand government was being ensured.

DIG, Ardh Kumbh, Ganesh Singh Martolia, District Magistrate Harbans Singh Chugh, SSP Senthil Abudai Krishan Raj, SSP, Ardh Kumbh, Jagat Ram Joshi, Additional Magistrate, Ardh Kumbh, Meharban Singh Bisht, ADM Jeevan Singh Nangiyal, Sub-divisional mela officer Devendra Singh Bisht, and Mukhya Nagar Adhikari Vipra Trivedi attended the meeting.
