Over 1.6 lakh flood-hit families get relief

Following the directions of Governor NN Vohra, disbursement of flood ex gratia was completed in 1,62,125 cases.

A Raj Bhawan spokesperson said the Governor at the flood review meeting in Srinagar on January 17 had fixed January 24 as the deadline for completing the relief disbursement.

The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, has said the disbursement of ex gratia in 1,62,125 flood-damaged structures had been completed and Rs 156.25 crore disbursed. Of this amount, Rs 73.62 crore has been given as relief to 9,816 fully damaged pucca houses, Rs 1.80 crore to 1,028 fully damaged kutcha houses, Rs 39.68 crore to 31,499 severely damaged pucca houses, Rs 27 lakh to 750 kutcha houses, Rs 35.87 crore to 94,401 partially damaged pucca houses and Rs 1.70 crore to 5,330 kutcha houses.

Further, Rs.79.32 lakh relief was given to 2,644 damaged huts and Rs 2.49 crore for 16,657 cowsheds.

Giving the district-wise details, the spokesperson said relief was given to the fully damaged 1,571 pucca and 47 kutcha houses in Pulwama district, 232 pucca and 106 kutcha houses in Kulgam district, 1,293 pucca and 232 kutcha houses in Anantnag district, 857 pucca and 24 kutcha in Budgam district, 5,110 pucca and 240 kutcha in Srinagar district, and 404 pucca and 219 kutcha houses in Bandipora district.

The Governor has been informed that for severely damaged houses, relief has been given to 47 pucca houses and 79 kutcha houses in Kulgam district, 2,004 pucca and 21 kutcha houses in Pulwama district, 3,825 pucca and 246 kutcha houses in Anantnag district, 3,425 pucca and 18 kutcha houses in Budgam district, 18,850 pucca and 89 kutcha houses in Srinagar district and 1,333 pucca and 145 kutcha houses in Bandipora district.

Relief has also been given to partially damaged 2,132 pucca and 202 kutcha houses in Kulgam district, 9,038 pucca and 18 kutcha houses in Pulwama district, 8,249 pucca and 652 kutcha houses in Anantnag district, 8,667 pucca and 39 kutcha houses in Budgam district, 55,294 pucca and 3,103 kutcha houses in Srinagar district and 3,931 pucca and 309 kutcha houses in Bandipora district.

The Governor has also ordered that there should be no delay in the disbursement of relief under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and that all missing information should be supplied to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) by January 31. Consequently, 16-digit bank account numbers have been furnished to the NDMA in 9,965 cases of the total of 10,847 cases.

A total of over Rs 174.64 crore has been disbursed as ex gratia (including disbursement of funds received from the PM’s and CM’s Relief Fund). Of this, Rs 3.51 crore has been disbursed as ex gratia to the next of kin of the deceased persons, over Rs 156.25 crore as ex gratia to the damaged houses and over Rs 14.87 to the eligible persons/families towards payment of rent.
