Since the surgical strikes by the Army on militant launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on September 29, there has been an escalation in ceasefire violations by the Pakistan army on the Line of Control (LoC).

Army sources said that over 25 ceasefire violations had taken place on the 748-km-long LoC in Jammu and Kashmir since September 29.

Pakistan has resorted to unprovoked firing mostly in the Jammu region. It has violated the truce pact on the LoC in the Kashmir region only twice.

In the Valley, the Machil and Nowgam sectors witnessed firing, while in the Jammu region, the ceasefire violations took place in the Nowshera, Pallanwala, Krishna Ghati, Balakote and Saujiyan sectors.

A soldier, Sudees Kumar, lost his life during a ceasefire violation in the Balakote sector.
