Patwaris in all districts of the state today returned the revenue records of those villages, whose revenue affairs they were told to manage in addition to their place of posting.

Mohan Singh Bhedpura, senior vice-president of the Revenue Patwar Union, Punjab, said today’s action would affect revenue works in around 44 per cent of the total villages in the state.

“Patwaris have returned the revenue records of 5,500 villages to the district authorities. Of 4,594 patwar circles in the state, posts of patwari are vacant in 1,958. Most patwaris are managing more than one circle. Hence, we have taken the decision to work only in that patwar circle where we are posted,” added Bhedpura.
