Rs 24 cr spent under tribal sub-plan in Spiti

Vice-chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST)-cum-Lahaul-Spiti MLA Ravi Thakur presided over a meeting of the Tribal Sub-Plan Advisory Committee at sub-divisional headquarters in Kaza today.

He said in the last financial year, Rs 23.97 crore had been spent under the Tribal Sub-Plan for multiple schemes and projects by various departments in Spiti subdivision of Lahaul district. He said Rs 84.69 lakh, received as a special Central aid, had been spent in the region.

He said the Agriculture Department had provided a subsidy of Rs 34.14 lakh on seeds, Rs 6.40 lakh on fertilisers, Rs 1 lakh on plant conservation material and Rs 8.54 lakh on equipment to the farmers. The Horticulture Department disbursed 14,000 apple plants at Rs 84,000, while a subsidy of Rs 20 lakh was disbursed to horticulturists for purchasing equipments, he added.

He appealed the officers concerned to expedite the process of development works and ensure timely consumption of the allocated budget for specific works during the current financial year.
