Anandpur Sahib, February 19

To develop the area as a hub of religious tourism, the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs has decided to give a facelift to Takht Kesgarh Sahib and develop its surroundings by spending Rs 50 crore.

A proposal in this regard was submitted to the Union Ministry of Tourism on February 17. A presentation would be made before the ministry officials next week. Local MP Prem Singh Chandumajra said the Centre had in principle agreed to allocate the sum under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.

Chandumajra said Naina Devi temple was situated a few kilometres from here and devotees from other parts of country visiting famous shrines as well as hill stations in Himachal Pradesh had to go through Ropar district. Initially, it had been proposed to renovate the façade of Takht Kesgarh Sahib and develop its surroundings.
